On january 17th, Hong Kong fashion week hosted its 12th annual Footwear Design Competition and as expected some of the entries were pretty outrageous, although pretty wearable. Here are just couple examples. Which one of those would you wear?

Shoegasm News: Noritaka Tatehana, the man behind most of Lady Gaga’s sky high shoes released very special and very exclusive collection for the holidays, Hint Mag reports that Tatehana has created a five-shoe capsule collection to be sold at Trading Museum Comme des Garçons in Tokyo from now until December 25. It really is just a five-shoe collection, though; there is one pair of each design, and they only come in one size.

Shoegasm news: Louboutin Confidential is a first episode of “God Save My Shoes” the first documentary film to explore the intimate relationship women have with their shoes, which I personally have been anticipating for over three months now, ever since I first heard of it.

To understand how shoes have come to hold such a pivotal place in pop culture, sexuality and women’s lives, God Save my Shoes turned to many of those who play a role in the global shoe phenomenon: Extreme shoe lovers, fashion historians and editors, psychologists, sex experts, shoe fetishists, and star designers Christian Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik, Walter Steiger, Pierre Hardy, Bruno Frisoni, and Robert Clergerie, along with celebrities such as Fergie, Kelly Rowland and Dita Von Teese.

God Save my Shoes officially premiered in Paris on September 7th, sadly the opening dates for the U.S. has not been announced yet.

Shoegasm News: Over the last couple of years Melissa became very recognizable brand of cute and reasonably priced rubber shoes. What it is also famous for is high profile collaborations. Jason Wu is the newest name in the long list of designers who have collaborated with Melissa and with that list including names like Vivienne Westwood and Jean Paul Gaultier, Wu is certainly in good company.

I usually don’t post music videos but Lady Gaga’s new video is truly shoegasmic.

You can see everything starting from classic Louboutins, Guiseppe Zanotti to heel less Swarovski-encrusted pumps to Mikio Sakabe sky high boots worn as ballet points.

Even if you dont agree with her talent, you would get plenty of shoegasms throughout the video.

How many different heels and brands can you spot?

Shoegasm News: Kanye West debuts his womenswear collection in Paris Fashion Week

Although the rumor about Kanye West designing his own shoe line didn’t turn out to be true (not yet at least). He just added one more specialty to his resume when he debuted much anticipated by many womenswear collection earlier today in Paris. The line is iconic in a way that it’s first celebrity designed collection for high fashion rather than for Macy’s mainstream and was received well by now fellow fashion designers.

Kanye did recruit help from major fashion visionaries like Louise Goldin and Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy to bring his own vision to life. Not to mention Guiseppe Zanotti shoe designs accompanying the outfits. Looks like all these hours spent with the masters really did pay off.

Shoegasm Trailer: Manolo Mojo

Another week, another peek from the upcoming footwear documentary “God Save My Shoes”. This time we get to witness plenty of close up shots of infamous Manolo Blahniks and get to chat with Mr Manolo himself who turns out to be not shy about expressing his opinions of current trends and his disgust at platform shoes.

Shoegasm rumors: Kanye West is creating his own shoe line?
Kanye West is no stranger to fashion and has already showed his designer talent in creating his own sneaker collection for french fashion house Louis Vuitton. Now famous rapper is preparing to debut his womenswear collection at the coming New York Fashion Week in September, so having his own footwear line would be more than fitting. Lately the music mogul has been learning about high heels and spending time with infamous shoegasm master Guiseppe Zanotti:
“Kanye is always here in my factory. In the last three years he has come here maybe every month and worked with employees ten to twelve hours a day,” Shoegasm master is quoted saying to Footwear news.
“[Kanye] loves learning about shoes, both design and construction, and we’ve tried to design something together. In a couple of months, he could have his own special collection out”
It would be interesting to see how it all plays out. I’m already excited to see his womenswear line, hopefully the shoe collection (if it is really in the making) would be a good representation of his eclectic taste.
What do you think about possibility of Kanye’s women’s shoe line?  Would you be interested to see his designs?
